In April, Jimmy had the opportunity to visit the owner of his old 1925 Gibson Fern mandolin. Jimmy started his career with the Country Gentlemen back in 1969 with this instrument and hasn't seen it in a good while so we took some pictures.

In July, Jimmy and Gloria took a trip to Ireland and Northern Ireland (with a side trip to England to visit friends). Jimmy sat in on a session at McCarthy's in Westport and was given his first bodhran lesson. The trip was filled with great scenery, many sheep in the road, lovely weather, great music and tasty Guinness.

The recording sessions for Jimmy's instrumental album, tentatively called "Pieces and Bits", were completed in July. All that remains now is the mixing, mastering, and cover art and notes. The hope is still to complete it before fall sets in.
